  • Zzr400d restriction

Hi, I've recently bought a imported 91 zzr400d. Do these have restrictor fitted as it won't go above 10k rpm in any gear. Any advice please?

Hmmm. Did not know such a beast existed until now. Research shows factory redline was 14,000. Gray market stuff is always dicey, I wish you luck!

      Give this a whirl: https://www.fixya.com/motorcycles/t9587900-de_restrict

The ebay link is dead at the fixya URL, but this might work: https://www.ebay.com/itm/CDI-Derestr...-/183983407120

The other thing to do is properly tune the carburetors (dyno jetting). I imagine you could get away with just replacing the CDI and seeing what happens.

I did read something about cutting the pink wire on the cdi and adding a resistor. Anyone heard of this method?

Welcome aboard, Lee. No advice from me, but stick around and let us know how it turns out
