Likewise Mike. and it looks like I'll be accompanied by one of my local riding buddies on his new GS 1250. Unless his soon to be arriving granddaughter says otherwise.

Cherohala is closed. Washouts. That's a huge bummer.

Edit: Upon further investigation it looks like the Cherohala is open from the Robbinsville NC end for 46 miles toward Tellico Plains. Woot woot!Last edited by slayman; 08-17-2023, 05:51 AM.

At least we'll be able to run part of it.Although there really isn't an easy way to get to Robbinsville now.
Thanks for the info Scott

Makes the route a little longer BUT, if I had to choose, the North Carolina side is definitely the better piece of road. Also with the closure traffic should be much lighter.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ That was the route I was looking at as well.I have neither the time,or the inclination, to explain myself to a man, who rises and sleep under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner, in which I provide it. I'd rather you just say 'thank you' and go on your way.

Tommy and I are heading up on Wednesday to get in a couple of extra days riding in case anyone wants to join us. The plan is to ride in the Robbinsville area on Wednesday, spend the night there and then roll down to Suches Thursday morning and ride that area all day. The more the merrier.

Getting close gents.. I just flew back from Oregon last night (Trans American Trail) and plan on driving up Friday. Can’t wait to see some old faces.
