I should be good for the end of June for a Tahoe, NorCal, Central Cal, Tahoe ride. I am teaching a credit recovery summer school course until June 17th.

Hi There , I am back home as of yesterday ... the 14 hr drive from Weed back to BC completed. I was afraid I may have gotten lucky in speaking with the locals , and reading the news about the grim snowpack levels this Winter, and of course sad to see the reservoirs so low at this point in the year. That said , riding in the high 50's and low to mid 70's was perfect in that I could layer up or down and open some vents for all elevations, central valley floor, or coastal riding . NorCal for me is SF or Sacramento and North !

April / early May street riding is like finding change under the couch cushions in my world, and thus easy to justify the trek .... :)

I will have to be a 2023 candidate, having just been there . SLO or SBO would be hard for me to hit . I would trailer to Redding ( 15 hrs) , and then try to link into Tahoe Area on day 2 for me... and then have 3 -4 days to loop with you folks , before having to work my way North again ... last lobby for earlier.... virtually no traffic other than Fedex trucks !
Will try to make something work on my end to connect with others ....

Just throwing out the idea of a mini PNWest ride in or around home construction in Republic or Spokane / CDA area … might collect the Cdn contingent at a minimum …

Worst case , Greg, I would love a guided tour of the road You found from South of Republic up and over to the ferry … I’d head down for a day riding at a minimum if the forecast looks good one of these weekends …

        The borders open ! Whoop

I did a 160 mile ride this weekend, roads still pretty filthy from winter sanding. But something in June or July should be doable...

I can participate in a ride/rally in July- June is out due to work and other commitments. Weekend of July 8-10 is a good place to start- the longer we wait into summer the hotter it will likely be.
If the NW squad wants to do something around Republic/Spokane I would be in for sure.

Hmmm, “long weekend in WA or MT”. We never did do that borscht run, you know!

BTW, howdy! Sorry it’s been so long! I popped on the site to ask a question and saw this thread, and had to peruse it!

If anything happens in eastern WA, the ID panhandle, or western MT, somebody let me know. Cherié and I could potentially drop by for a visit. We’d be in the SLK, but since it’s tiny and a convertible, it’s almost a motorcycle!

Great to hear from you Tex! We Canadians haven't ridden across the border in a couple of years, and seeing you and Cherié would make our return all the better!

If July 8-10 works for the gang I will do my best to attend. I’m more likely to show if it’s closer to home. Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon or BC are within striking distance for me this year. I’ve recently committed to some other summer activities here at home but I do have some flexibility on my timing on those. Given all the energy we put into trying to get together over the past two summers it would be great to make this happen this year. Kermit wants to attend.

p.s. Howdy Tex - it’s good to see you checking in. Thanks for stopping by and for the update. It would be great to see you and Cherie even if it’s just for some Borscht and beers.

Can't do it next year for sure... but riding Arkansas with you idiots is on my bucket list for sure! Maybe in another couple years we could put together a plan involving one big-ass trailer to haul a load of our bikes out there and hang for a week...
x 2 for the bucket list. I'll join you.

Like the deviant brother I return late to the conversation with my head down in shame (currently on the road in Prince George & only slight under the influence).

And a hardy har-har to getting out state side this year.

Mrs. Trout & I are keen on planning a jump into WA to run most of Hwy 20 and more.

John Day is a good option, I do recall snow inside our rain gear getting over some of the passes last we went.

Completed day 1 of my mini 1West ride in between rain storms . 1West seems appropriate as it’s just me hitting some of my favourites around Republic, WA, and was keen to hit Bridge Creek Road that Greg had discovered .

Checked off lunch at the Chesaw,WA tavern and currently having dinner in Hunters,WA, and will camp here for the night with my Not Dead Yet inspired, 1 man tent .

I think it was a good choice, in 2022 to avoid this week for weather . I am likely going to hit a few more back roads between here and Hwy 395 and Hwy 25 , and head home if the rain hits …

Well, I am now home. I feel like Charlie Brown, with the rain cloud following me till noon ! In the middle of the night the skies opened, and the rain fell on my little one man coffin/ tent ! Add to that , the over the hill prostate and multi beers for dinner combo ... meant having to pee during any rain stoppages. Then waking up in rain sucks too ... wet bike, tent, etc.... The hillsides were covered in mist, and low clouds like something you might see along the coast .... cold and damp.

My lean , low speed sputter was extra bad with all that cold damp air .... will try new manifold collars ...

As it was raining pretty hard till noon , I headed pretty much directly home , and l left a number of good looking back roads still to be ticked off . Found a great little coffee shop in Kettle Falls that made a tasty Latte and Cinnamon Bun .

But would say , that was likley the best week to avoid for a group ride ! So good choice to pass ...
