  • 2West 2019 redux

Hey northwestern peeps, I've got a long weekend booked Sept 6-10 for the purpose of using up the stock Bridgestones on my H2, and right now my weather-permitting plan is to recreate part of this year's 2West route. Anyone in striking distance is welcome to join.

So far my plan is to hit Castlegar, BC on Friday Sept 6 to visit my buddy who rides a nice Triumph Sprint, then duck into WA over the weekend for some Republic/Winthrop/Northern Cascades action. I haven't been over the N Cascades since I did it on a CBR600 in 2002, so it's way overdue. Of course I'm open to any and all suggestions from the local peanut gallery.

    Cheers!

Gareth, I truly wish I could join you! Unfortunately I will be out of the state attending a conference on the 7-10. Have fun!

I wish I could join you. I’m slated to have surgery on my left wrist (partial fusion) Mon, Sept 9. I’ve developed osteoarthritis and am experiencing significant bone / joint deterioration. This has been ongoing for a few years now and the chronic pain has gotten to the point I have to resort to surgery. That spells an early end to my riding season.

For us right now, it is too soon to know what we will be voluntold at work. If the wife and I can, we might be able to squeeze a Sunday ride up to Winthrop, but I don't want to make a promise I can't keep. Post up (or IM) what your dates and approximate location will be and we will see if we can meet up. Weather as you said will be a determining factor, but that early in Sept, most of the weather should be good still

Good luck with that Dave! Getting old sucks! It is better than the alternative though...

NDY, that sucks about your wrist. Hope the surgery goes well and you get some relief.

                K. I still have no real plan, other than land in Castlegar this Friday and head into WA Saturday. I'll PM you later this week and see where you're at.

Hey Jeff - this retirement thing seems to suit you well.

But it is getting in the way of your riding.

Will not be able meet up and ride. Weekend will be tied down here at work. Stay east of the mountains to keep clear of rain. It will be raining on and off all weekend south of Seattle from what I'm seeing.

Hey Gareth - inquiring minds (aka: me ) want to know what your departure plan / time and route look like tomorrow. My last minute ass / self is thinking about joining you for part of your ride. I’m sitting at Universal Cycle waiting as they put a new back tire on for me.

Are you up for a wingman for part of your ride? Let me know. I also sent a text to the phone number I have on file for you. I can rendezvous any where any time that works for you. I want to follow that cool new ride for a few kms.

I thought you were out for the year with the wrist deal!
And, did you figure out your bike's electrical issue?
