• Michael Anderson aka Futile

We lost a great man and good friend.

On the 4th on July, 2007 Michael Anderson, better know here as Futile, died riding his bike up highway 12 in Montana. His roommate and good friend for the last ten years, Spooon, told us the tragic news. The police officer told Spooon there was a moose in the road, and a car in the opposite lane that had stopped for the moose to cross. Mike came into a right hand corner tried to stop but slid into the stopped car and was killed instantly. He was wearing full protection. Mike is survived by his three beautiful kids, Moriah, 10, Hannah, 8, and Brandon, 6.

Futile was a true friend to those who knew him, and a valued member here at ZZRBikes.com. He will be sorely missed.
Dang your fast.....You were hauling when I passed you

I rode with Mike twice in Montana and Idaho. Once in 2004 and then again in 2005. He'd brave any weather at any distance to meet you and lead you on unfamiliar roads, even though you were only a stranger off the internet. He was great rider, a good companion, and the kind of guy who would do whatever he could to help any of us.

He was a credit to himself and to this site.

    RIP, Mike.

I also rode with Mike twice. Once in Glacier National Park, Montana in 2004, and again in 2005 when he, Doug (Puffenbarker), and I rode over to Sturgis for a week. The above picture is during that week when the 3 of us rode over to Wyoming to see Devils Tower. And what chuckles we had that evening recapping our 130 plus Harley blowby on the way back to camp.
Mike has stayed with my family and I on a couple of occasions when he was in the neighborhood and came by for a visit. His last visit was just a few weeks before his tragic accident when he came by to drop off some zzr parts for my rebuild. He was only gonna stay for a while and head home, but after I fed him a couple Crown Royal shots he decided that the hot tub and a cozy bed sounded better. My wife still still feels bad about burning the bisquits for morning breakfast but Mike said they were "just like my mom used to make."
He certainly was genuinely good people and is sorely missed.

      Rest in peace buddy

                    G83z's comments reminded me -

G83Z sent Fingers1491 a front rim w/tire a few weeks ago to replace a dented one. The rim G sent was originally one that Futile brought him.

The front tire had tread in the middle, but the sides were worn completely smooth and had no chicken strips The man could ride RIP some more, Mike.

Hello everyone, this is mike "futiles" eldest daughter Moriah. I would just like to that everyone for the posts about my dad. I just drove by his crash siting the other day with my aunt when i remembered he had this. My sister hannah read all of the posts about him on the fourth of july to remember him so thank you so much for that :) hannah and brandon were both really little when he passed away and i am terrified they wont remember what a great dad he was to us. I wish they had gotten to spend more time with us, he was the best :)
Be careful and watch out for moose!

Your post really hit home with me, Moriah.

A year or two, maybe three, I sent your dad's sister (can't remember her name at the moment) all the photos I had with your dad in them.

                        Here they are -

Futile, my ZX-11, Jody, and Mike's RS ready to leave Sunday morning. The morning was bright and sunny. A word about Futile. He rode down the previous day in rain most of the way, just to be able to ride with us the next day back exactly the way he had come, in the rain again. He is Grade-A stuff.

I wish I had more for you.

Diogenes said that we have two ears and one mouth so that we'll listen more and talk less. Your dad was the embodiment of that in the best way. Though he didn't brag about it, he loved you and your siblings very much. I hope you are all well and happy.

                        Thank you for posting.

                          Moriah,

Tex and I stopped at the crash site last year and spent some time there. It is very beautiful country and we understood why your dad loved to ride up there so much. Thanks so much for saying hello you guys are always welcome here...

This thread is both heartbreaking and also truly uplifting...

                              Moriah,

May God bless you and your sisters. Your dad sounded like he was one of the really great guys and I'm sorry I wasn't around here earlier, to know him.
