  • 4 days in WV and VA

Returned this afternoon with an additional 1202 miles on the Ninja. Departed Thursday with two local sport touring enthusiasts headed to Staunton VA. A bit of slab to the Martinsburg WV area then worked our way west then south, then east. Friday included the BRP from Waynesboro to Buchanon. I love that road when the traffic is light. Saturday was a run from Staunton to Elkins and back RT 250 out and RT33 back. Mostly in the rain. Still a fun day. Today was 340ish miles home. This was the first extended door to door trip on the Ninja, no trailering this time. Worked out pretty well although on this bike the ring mounted tank bag gets in my way. That wasn't the case with the magnetic bag on the ZZR. I'll need to work on the wind management especially with the screen full up. Overall a bit more comfy than the ZZR. The Michelin Road 6 worked great in the rain. I figured out after the fact how to switch it to rain mode. Klim Goretex gear kept me dry. Very few pics, as usual, other than the ones from the BRP from the same location we always stop at, already on Facebook. Once I remember how to get the tracks off of the Garmin I might add them. No performance awards, no incidents, one close deer encounter, a dozen suicidal squirrels, and me thinking I lost my wallet at the lunch stop today, doubling back and then realizing I dropped it in the vent in my fancy pants instead of the pocket. DUH. A fantastic 4 days.

I had the V-stream sport shield on my former N1K. I thought it worked better than the OE shield and it wasn't a barn door touring screen. In the upper most position, it provided me w/just enough wind deflection that I was generally satisfied. I would not have wanted bigger and the V-Stream was pretty effective in routing the wind. You can get bigger but it kinda screwed w/the lines on the bike. The sport screen was still about 2-3" taller than OE and wider too. N20121 is the model number. N20121 VStream® Sport Windscreen for Kawasaki® Z1000SX Ninja
