When I bought a Concours14 back in 2011 I joined the COG forum. At one point my bike started to have a funky idle and I remembered reading a post that said if your bike starts to run roungh, hard to start, etc, try this simple hack.
1. Turn on the key but do not start the bike.
2. Twist the throttle all the way open and hold it for 3 seconds.
3. Close the throttle all for 3 seconds.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 twice more.
5. Turn off the ignition for a short time.
6. Start the bike as normal.
I used this hack more than once and it seemed to fix my issue.
Fast forward to 2 days ago, I am riding my 2017 R6 to work and starts to really mess up when trying to accelerate normally from a stop. Idle seemed rough too. On the ride home it was doing the same thing. So while at a red light I employed the hack and lo and behold, the bike behaved normally once more. If I am correct, doing the hack allows the ECU to reread the throttle position sensor and reset it.
Yes, it could have been some bad gas or some other hiccup. All I know is that it has seemed to work for me on more than one occasion. Anyone else heard of this hack, or employed it?
