    Hey Dave,
Would it be feasible for you to mail your ECU to me and then I could send it to Shnitz?
But I guess the rub would be when you write me a check for the $200 American it would still be quite a bit more in Canadian?
    That make sense??

Looks like $200 American is $267 Canadian.
      Is shipping really that costly?
Especially if it is a person to person item? No one will know what's in the box/envelope. A gift??

No doubt about it that a reflash approach unleashes totally usable torque where you really notice it.
Recalling my two Connies both of which I removed the secondaries with an Area P exhaust and a Power Commander. The boost in the real world segment of the rev range got you turbine like smoothness. Money is always tight but I'd bet you would not regret it for a moment.

Wow, the Schnitz Racing reflash sure seems more expensive than when I had mine done! As I remember it, mine was like $75 plus shipping (US) back in 2016. But I chose not to try to match it to my slip-ons, saving $. Why?
          1. I did not expect big power gains, as I have slip-ons and not a full system.
          2. I did not, and do not, feel the need for big power gains- this thing is fast enough!
          3. My main goal was to get the mid-range torque to where it should be- mission accomplished! I can ride quickly all day never exceeding 6000 RPM (but I often do anyway)

For me being able to ride quickly at low RPM is very beneficial, because there are lots of homes near some of my favorite ride routes. Running along at lower RPM with my pretty quiet slip-ons keeps the locals from calling the cops, and there could be a deputy a block over and he would never know I just ran down a nearby "posted at 35 MPH" road at over 75. I hear these kids ride by our area at 16,000 RPM on their 600's and I know it pisses people off.

Dave if I can help get yours done at lower cost let me know. Might work out if your are going to be coming south this summer anyway.

I was thinking it was only $75 to have mine reflashed also.

Sounds like it huh? Bike has maybe 60,000 km on her. the steering head bearings were getting a bit sloppy and may have just needed tightening. Rear shock linkages were apparently OK.
Main thing was I knew I wanted/needed to do fork oil and seals and also upgrade a tiring rear shock. A few other little jobs along the way.
Thusly.. since I was going to get involved in a major strip down/exposure to do that stuff it made sense to do the bearing stuff as they are relatively cheap parts anyway.
Roller bearings in the headstock are always a very fine line between too loose and too tight where tapers are easier to get right and they are harder wearing by nature. Similarly the back end. The linkage and dog bones down there are right in the path of the worst conditions of wet and grit and salt etc. Just made sense to do them while I was there.
Overall I recalled when I got the Gen2 how much better it rode than the Gen1 and ten years of life I knew it was just not as compliant.
Maybe also a smidgin of guilt at years of mild neglect made me want to restore some lustre for all the hard use she took without complaint??
She just needed some love my man. Also I have never been famous for common sense. LOL
Made me get to many areas just hard to get to while all the bodywork off too and scads of soap and degreaser and spit and shine were done along the way.
At 71 now I am like Willie Nelson and Trigger. Just want her to last as long as I have left and hell... it's kinda fun anyway?

I understand the compulsion! Mine only has about 35,000 KM on her and is now 8 years old. I am thinking after we get done with building this house and I have more time and space in my shop, in another winter or two I will do the same thing- rebuild forks, add a new shock, inspect and replace bearings etc. And a new chain and sprockets. I still have the originals on, and they have been far more durable than I expected with all that torque.

Yeah I got 25,000 miles out of my original chain so they last well long as lubed and adjusted regularly.
Just got to commit the time when you can if going to do all that kind of stuff. Also the need for the odd special tool or fabricate your own. Most of them you can avoid or use inventive workarounds.
Just ridiculous though what all is under there!! As Jmac was fond of saying "It's all just nuts'n bolts!"

Ha! Yeah, once you get all the outside stripped away there is a small car hiding under there.
Sam, I promised myself for years to have the Abba stand before pulling the trigger but it is simply brilliant! To be able to strip out the back end and remove the swingarm standing right next to it without all manner of lifting/tethering gear getting tangled.. priceless. Normally it uses the swingarm pivot as the suspension point but uses an alternate location of one of the footpeg mountings for that job. Platform lifts just don't compare.

BTW if anyone interested here is the link to them. They also do a simpler and cheaper version called a Superbike stand. When I ordered mine it was on my doorstep under 48hrs later. Excellent company and first class support.
