SW BC was well swatted earlier this week and many are just figuring out what to do next. After many weeks of rain, it came on more and until we hit a 100 year event. Countless mud slides, massive multiple region flooding, loss of lives, evacuated and cut off towns, numerous road sections out, loss and disruption of infrastructure, shortages, and agricultural hardships.

On a rather selfish note - Hwy 8 is gone. One of the best stretches of road in BC, you could easily chew off a 1/4 “ from a softer compound tire inside of 30 min on one of the most enjoyable roads I new of.

I have more masks than all the mittens and gloves I’ve ever owned. We can go to most any venue with our double Vac bar code for scanning to gain access to eat drink and enjoy entertainment but still have to wear a mask as we go in and are escorted to our seat. Then we can un-mask to drink and be merry but if you got to go, put on your mask to Pee. I get the rules but sometimes they go beyond science and logic.
The US boarder towns are dying without Canuck buck tourism and trade as we typically contribute a big part of their income. We just want to come spend money and party. Since when has the US been not willing to take in money. It’s a boarder trap that getting tired. We’re actually thinking of going north to play in what’s generally not that cold anymore. Might be tricky to find hard packed snow to easily build a shelter. I got cabin fever & need out!sigpic

What a year it's been in BC , it burns all Summer when you want rain , then it seems have saved it all up and dumped it at once .
Looking forward to heading South early and often in 2022 .
Gord , hwy 97c from Merritt to Ashcroft is not a bad second choice . A few extra miles in your loop !
Crazy devastation though . I don't see the Coquihalla opening for 9 months or more !
