  • A great read about the Go-Show

Anthony Gobert. So much talent, so much confusion. I actually met him down at Fisherman's wharf after WSBK practice at Laguna Seca one Saturday. We chatted a bit, he was most amiable. But I got the feeling he was hanging out waiting for a weed dealer...

He probably was. So much talent down the drain because of his habits. He lost the respect of many.

Before I read this link, know that I've tried to follow up on the Go Show, but all the news was bad. I was his biggest fan he never met, back in the day.
      KN, this ride's for You.

I used to feel the same way, just disappointed and disgusted. Now it just makes me sad, and I feel like he had more of an illness than character flaws, especially with what I have read in recent years (see JM's note). "Insane" is the only way to describe throwing away such an amazing future. His talent was so off the charts.

Guys with that type of talent; Gobert, Schwantz, Spencer, and now Marquez, that ride around a track and leave everyone including their competitors shaking their heads and asking "How in the hell can he make that motorcycle do that?"; they are what make the sport of motorcycle road racing so fantastic. You get to see shit performed that just should not be possible. Watching the Go Show ride around Laguna was that kind of experience. What a tragic waste.

I watched him race at our local raceway before he "made it big". He was good then, always at the front.

Then there was the time he was beaten up.
