  • 14091-1505 Lower Cowls - Part that seals plastics against engine

They don't stock these anymore and I'd like to get suggestions on what material I should use to make my own.

This is the seal that goes between the side plastics and the engine.

It's just crumbing away on my.

I took an outline of each, but I never quite find the "right" material.

The funny thing is, I've tried to order this item, but gave up and canceled my order after waiting.

Today, just for kicks, I asked them again, and they said it's a high ticket item, and I should order and wait till the production resumes.

I find that hard to believe (high ticket item).....is that true?

I too have tried to find stuff to replace those. I try to handle them gentle as hell when doing repairs/service,
They are brittle and look like shit. Gotta be something to make this out of. I'm sure if you found the OEM
    stuff it would be $$$$$$$

Can you share the outline with us?
              I.e. using flatbad scanner.

While the elite pushes for ecological transition and electric engines, I enjoy the power of a 1200cc 4 strokes engine fed by 4 x 40mm. carburetors.

Get something like this stuff, cut it to a rough shape, and fit it. It will squeeze up where necessary.

Raw material - you'd just need an outline:

                  high-temperature foam | McMaster-Carr

I bought a new left-side foam seal last Summer - other side was not available.

Next time I have the lower cowls off I'll order this stuff and cut two as mirror images and glue them together since they are 1/2" thick and adhesive-backed.
