  • Good Ride Today

Had a great ride today actually. Put about 250 miles on the ole girl. Lots more comfort too thanks to my "new" Corbin seat
(thanks again to member "bretb" for the great deal on the seat). Also that will be around 1500 miles on the new
Road5 tires I put on a few weeks back. I'm glad I made that choice too. We had some low 70deg. temps today
as well, can't hardly beat that any day. Road the Mt. Cheaha front road (281) like 3 times (20.5 miles one way) from
hiway 78 up to the park. Just turn around at the park entrance and went right back down for another trip. You owe
it to yourself to hit this road if you're ever in the eastern part of Alabama just off I-20 near Anniston/Oxford area.

    How's enforcement along there?

I’ve ridden it several times this past few months and hardly any. I run an Escort Passport with an auxiliary LED warning
for the times they are. They have been rare.
It’s a road that is best run just slightly over speed limit anyway so we don’t draw too much attention. Weekdays are best time.

My son will soon be stationed in Marion, Alabama at The Marion Military Institute, to train Army cadets.

Charlie, which motorcycle roads do you recommend near Marion? I will probably visit him this summer.

Don’t know really. Marion is in Perry County west/central Alabama west of Montgomery. I don’t get down in that area much. Most of my riding is from Leeds, Alabama (about 4 miles east of Barber Motorsports Park) to the east. Eastern Alabama is the lowest foothills of the Appalachian mountains so that’s mainly why. If you make it to Marion, you do need to come up to Barber if you've never been. World class museum of his is something to see.
You might just kick it up the ole Google search, I'm sure some riding groups in that area have posted some stuff. I just don't get down that way much.

Those are all good. You have to watch which ones are for scenery and which ones for curves, or both. Farther south you are, say from Montgomery south, the flatter it gets.
