  • Sargent Seat

I have been wanting a Sargent seat for years but not been willing to part with almost $600 to procure one. So, I’ve been searching E Bay from time to time. My prayers were finally answered last week! Scored a practically new one for only $200! After shipping and tax total of $250! The only drawback with the Sargent for me was that the pillion cowl would not work. I found a local upholsterer that shaved some foam off the pillion section and recovered the seat for $50. Seat is perfect now! I had some left over black decal material so I ran a stripe down the cowl. At the moment I like the stripe. What says you all?

Looks great Mike. How’s the comfort factor?

I've loved my Sargent seats. Congrats to you, Mike. Got a great deal there. Considering they are produced in bulk, virtually every one of them has increased the comfort level for my rear end. The only one I had that didn't do much for comfort was the one I bought for my former Ninja 1000. I love the one I have on my FJR now. I can ride for 2 hours before I need to get off.

          Thanks Dave.

I've yet to ride with it as it's still winter here.

I'm sure it'll be an improvement over the stocker.

              Lose the stripe. It's hideous.

              Seat looks nice tho.

Nice seat. As for the stripe, it just needs a parallel boarder to break up the black/white transition.
Personal preference though. Nice bike Mike. Love those "R"s

                    Nah. Just bustin' your stones.

Might look better in pink tho.

Well, the truth about the stripe is that I got overzealous when attempting to latch the seat and put a tiny crack in the rear seat cowl

I then put some fiberglass matte and resin on the cowl to fix the crack. Crack fixed.

However, you could still see a small black line where the two pieces of the cowl didn't cure perfectly straight.

So, I had a "white" touch up pen paint laying around that I had used when I had my BMW and decided to use it on the crack line in the cowl.

Of course the "white" is just a shade off and is now glaring at me when I look at the cowl.

So, I had some extra black decal material and thought, " What better way to hide a glaring white mistake than to cover it up with an APPARENTLY bigger glaring black mistake! "

I have now confessed my sins and like it or not you all can kiss my glaring white ass that has a crack in it!!!

Alrighty then...........I knew there was more to it than just a black stripe. Shit, Mike, it still looks fine
I'm just envious over it being a 14R, that I want , ha. But, my ole ZED will have to do for now.

Looks great and love my Sargent seat. I got it for my ‘06 ZX14 and worked perfectly for my ‘12 ZX14R. I had a Corbin on my ‘03 ZZR1200 which was better than stock but not as comfortable as my Sargent, which is why I went with the topcase with backrest option for Tisha

                            Mike - I suggest toothpaste.

I was at a cruise night one time and a buddy had just bought a mid-70s Corvette he wanted to show off. A few of us were standing around kicking tires when another guy noticed bird shit in the middle of the Vette's hood. He leaned over and wiped it off - and underneath was a hole. My buddy had been doing some initial maintenance and had put the air cleaner cover back in place but had left the wingnut sitting on top of the cover. He then slammed the hood shut and the wingnut poked a hole through the middle of the hood, which he then covered with toothpaste to make it look like bird shit because he wanted to come show off the car that night.

Toothpaste is a better suggestion than bird shit
