  • GIVI tanklock for ZZR 1200

GIVI does not list any tanklock adapter for ZZR 1200. So we may use just GIVI magnetic tank bags.
Nevertheless I noticed BF04 fits several Kawasaki 5 bolts tank cap (i.e. ER6n)
So I compared the Kawasaki part number 51049-0021 of ZZR1200:

with a very similar 51049-0744 for ER6n (which fits GIVI BF04):

I zoomed to 102% the first picture for reaching 100 pixel per inch (based on the meter-stick) like in the second picture.
Both photo are not flat and I noticed stronger distortion on the first. I took notes of the coordinates of every hole and with Pitagora help I measured the distance of them.

    IMG_20221130_140053.jpg
The adjacent holes on the bottom (nearest to the meterstick) look distant roughly 222 pixels in both cases. Instead the others ZZR1200 holes looks nearer due to the vertical squeezing of the picture (they may took the picture from the bottom). The most fare holes on vertical are 329 pixels vs 353.
I do not exclude BF04 fits ZZR 1200 as well, but GIVI did not listed it just because invented tanklock when ZZR was already out of production.

Did anybody tried tanklock on our ZED?

I currently use the Givi tanklock on my ZX14r and I also used it on both my 2006 and 2007 ZX14. Perhaps you can compare part numbers on these to the ZZR1200. I’m very happy with the Givi tanklock system but as you noted it wasn’t available when the ZZR was introduced so I never used it on my ZZR. Good luck fitting it to yours, I think you should be able to make it work.

If you like I could take the tank lock adaptor off of my bike and do a thin cardboard cut-out of it and mail the cutout to you. That way you could see if the cutout matches to your ZZR tank cap and bolt arrangement. Then you would know for sure if it will work before you purchase it.

I also have a virtually new tanklock bag by SW-Motech with all mounting hardware that was on a friend's H2-SX. It might fit also fit on the ZZR. If you the can cross reference the H2-SX tank cap and bolt arrangement with he ZX14 and the ZZR to determine if it fits I would be happy to sell it to you at a very fair price.

Note: I just went out to the garage and the gas filler cap adaptor on the SW-Motech bag appears to be an exact match for the first gen ZX14 therefore I know for certain it will also fit the ZX14r and I am guessing it might also fit your bike. I currently have a first gen 2010 ZX14 SE and a second gen 2012 ZX14r SE both sitting in the garage for comparison purposes. Having owned a number of big bore Kwaks over the years the tank filler cap seems to be the same on a number of different models. Please let me know if I can help you in any other way.

The 2006 ZZR1400 (ZX14A6F) has the very same ER6-N tank cap: P/N 51049-0744 which fits a lot of models.
Instead the newer ZX14r uses 51049-0715.
NotDeadYet Did you use the same tanklock flange for the bike you had?

I used the Givi tank lock bag on both the first generation ZX14's I owned and I currently use it on the second gen ZX14r that now sits in the garage. It fits perfectly on both of those models. I did not use it on my ZZR1200. The SW Motech tank lock bag that I have from my friend's H2SX appears to fit both the first gen and second gen ZX14's as well.

I'm guessing the two different 51049 part numbers you are referencing might be the same cap. It appears they are the same 5 bolt configuration but identified differently due to being from different models.

The cardboard cutout from my Givi tanklock adaptor ring would be the best way to determine if it would also fit the ZZR.

here are pics of the SW-Motech bag and hardware. You can’t tell from the pics but this hardware will fit the H2SX and both ZX14 models. The adaptor shown only has 4 bolts, 2 you can see and 2 you can’t see on the bottom that line up perfectly on the ZX14. The little holes you can see under the tape are just magnetic spacers that I didn’t want to lose.

For more reference here are pics of the Givi tank lock adaptor mounted to the 2012 ZX14r. As noted I have used the same bag and adaptor on a 2006 ZX14, a 2007 ZX14 and a 2012 ZX14r. The SW-Motech bag pictured in the previous post came off of a H2SX but it appears to fit on the 2010 ZX14 I currently have in the garage and if it fits that bike I know it will fit my 2012 ZX14r as well. Pics of the GIvi on the Zx14r are below.

Here is the GIVI Tank Flange Chart. However, it doesn't even list the ZX 14 not to mention the ZED.

              GIVI Tank Ring Application Guide

              Here is the GIVI Website:

              Tank Bags

There are phone numbers for each site.

I don't recall any members ever fitting GIVI bags to their bikes.

If you can get a flange that is very close to the pattern you can drill the holes a bit larger to accept the flange.

I had to do that with my Aprilia to make the flange work.

              BTW

The plastic portion of the Tank Lock system is universal. Only the metal flanges are bike specific.

I use the BF-04 Tank Lock ring (metal flange)

              and

I have neither the time,or the inclination, to explain myself to a man, who rises and sleep under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner, in which I provide it. I'd rather you just say 'thank you' and go on your way.

Here is my write up about putting the GIVI system on my Aprilia.

However, another forum member discovered a way to to it without the metal mounting flange. He used only the plastic flange.

Scroll down to POST # 13 in the thread for his option.

Let me know if there is anything else.
Finaly I got the magnetic EA130 because it can be converted into bacpack.

I keep some value staff that cannot be left on the bike.
Tanklock is superfast to be removed but it can be just crossbody bag.

                    Thank you for the suggestions.

                      Hi There,

I went to a physical shop stocking parts and was able to use a BF04 (I think)

Used it all over Europe in 2017.

                      Very handy
