    Tires for Texas roads

I know this is probably a beaten horse, but Im in need of tires for my bike, front tires an oddball size 120/65-17 which makes it hard to match up (been thru google, think i wore it out LOL) anyhow, from what i read the 120/70s would work well, now my riding condtitons ar on texas roads ( we do not know how to make roads here, they are hard on tires, any riders from texas can verify this LOL) all my riding is on the street, with the occasional need for speed on quite roads, anyone have any good recomemendations on tires that have desent tread life, works well in wet and dry conditions, thanks guys

Sounds like a 05+; it came with 120/65 front and 180/55 rear, while 04- came with 120/60 front and 160/60 rear.

Any modern tire will work well.

You can't buy bad tires anymore.

Its a 2006, ive been reading up on some Pirelli Diablo Rosso II , Michelin Pilot Road 3, and Continental Conti Road Attack, however theses do not come in a 120/65, and most reviews ive read pretty much tells me how they are on track but not street.

Well I guess the next question is what kind of riding do you do. If you ride 2-up or sport touring type rides then Michelin Pilot Road 3's are great dual compound tires, but cost more. If you are a sporty rider that likes to hit the twisties, the Michelin Pilot Power's are maybe a better choice. If you want near track tire performance The Pilot Pure's are even better. I am a Michelin guy I have been running Pilot Road's both original and 2's for years and I love the performance and milage but they are a bit more cost. Other guys will have to chime in on the Pirelli's....

PR3 is your best choice for the types of Texas roads I ride. There actually is a lot of variation throughout the state. Here in the Hill Country, they use a very sharp chip-seal aggregate that is great for traction but is like a cheese grater on tires.

The PR3 is a good compromise of grip and treadwear. The Diablo Rosso will not last nearly as long, but is an otherwise excellent tire. Avon Storms were great, but I think they've been discontinued. Continental tires simply don't last here, in my experience.

    1. When asked for word associations or comments about the world, give the most conventional, run-of-the-mill, pedestrian answer possible.

    2. To settle on the most beneficial answer to any question, repeat to yourself:
    (a) I loved my father and my mother, but my father a little bit more.
    (b) I like things pretty well the way they are.
    (c) I never worry much about anything.
    (d) I don't care for books or music much.
    (e) I love my wife and children.
    (f) I don't let them get in the way of company work.

The Avon Storms have been superceded by the Storm II Ultra. Haven't heard any feedback on them yet.

... Sorry .. not much help here ...
I've run just about every tyre out there on the Zed and I still wind up having to change the rear tyre with the oil and filter ....... =^/

Right now I'm running/testing Vee Rubber sport tyres from Thialand .. No chicken strips but the weather has been to cold to realy push them ... $120 to the front door for the pair off ebay, bought two pairs ....
