    Wife's new ride

Yesterday we went and purchased a very nice Katana 750 for her. Already has a few little goodies on it (frame sliders on the way), only 7k on the clock. I originaly planned on getting her a Ninja 250 or 500 to learn on but after looking around for a couple of months and letting her try a few on we decided those were not what she was after. I was really nervous about putting her on a 750 to start with but I soon found my fears to be unfounded. She is a "dirt track racer and has a CDL damnit !" She reminds me of that often. She went on her maiden voyage yesterday and did just fine, a little wobbly at first but she was slidin' through the gears in no time. She plans to take the motorcyle safety course ASAP so she can get her endorsement and cheaper insurance not to mention its just a good idea. I have always told her that the most important thing to remember when riding on the street is "Everyone else on the road is trying to kill you!!!" so ride defensively, that lady who just looked right at you WILL pull out in front of you. Anyway I am happy to have a new riding buddy and am looking forward to riding with her on some road trips. Oh yea, no more smashed balls on the tank when stopping is a bonus too!!!

Nice selection for her. The Katana is similar to the ZZR in many ways, its gets shadowed by the GSXR in the Suzuki line. There are also lots of crossover parts from the GSXR that will bolt on to the Katana. I have considered one for my wife also, cheap and usually not too abused because all the squids buy the GSXR's. Love the Land Cruiser My dad had 2 when I was growing up.....

    Re: Wife's new ride

Congratulations to you and your wife on her new bike.

My wife has her own bike also.

The only issues I have come across is that the seat height on certain bikes can be a little much and the weight a little too heavy if the bike should start to fall.

Your wife, having a dirt track background is probably more comfortable with the above issues.

    Have fun!

    Re: Wife's new ride

She has more gear than I do! All of her dirt track time is in a cage (hobby stock car) but she has a good head for driving that should translate well to riding her bike. She almost dumped it off the kick stand last night on an incline but she managed to muscle it back up without dropping it. She is not a "girly girl" type so I think she will be ok. oh yea, Kan A Tuna, that is some funny shiznit, even though she didnt see the humor in it! Thanks for the replies and ZZR Bikes is the best site on the web (!!!FAKEbook sucks!!!)

Sweet ride! No worries about having to go slow either. Better watch you ain't lookin' at her tail light!
