No spark??!!
I need some help from the zzr experts here on the site with troubleshooting a lack of spark ( I'm guessing ). I went for a ride the day before and everything was fine. Tried to start it yesterday and nothing! It turns over and there is an occasional BLUB but it never quite catches. I have checked the fuses, battery connections, and gas with no problems found. I'm going to skin it today and check some more of the wiring and see if I am getting spark at the plugs. I am thinking ignitor problems but I am hoping for some feedback from you guys that may have already had this same problem to shorten my down time
. Also, if it is the ignitor does anybody know where I can get a replacement for a reasonable price? I found a used one on e-bay but I would rather have new. I really need to go for a ride so please share your nuggets of knowledge!!!

Re: No spark??!!
First, be absolutely certain that your battery is healthy and fully charged. People often say, "Well, if it's strong enough to spin the engine, it must be strong enough to make a spark!" Not true. The ignition system is more sensitive (less tolerant) to low voltage than is the starter motor.
You said you checked the gas. What did you check? You're certain the level is above reserve? How To Cheat on Personality Tests

Re: No spark??!!
Full tank of gas (no ethenol) and I replaced the battery last night. Still no luck
. I have a multi-meter but I am not sure what kind of voltage readings I should be looking for at the ignitor and so on.

Re: No spark??!!
Check your coil connections. One put on incorrectly can cause the motor to shut down as if out of fuel or no spark. Ask me how I know.

Re: No spark??!!
I havent messed with the coils or anything else on the ignition system since I bought the bike but I checked the connections on the coil packs and they look good. I am currently trying to remove the bottom bolts from the air box (no wobble joint small enough to fit) so I can check to see if I am getting good spark. I had a Suzuki VX800 that did this same thing and it was the ignition module. I also have a '66 Toyota Land Cruiser with a bowtie 350 that left me stranded in the boondocks because of a bad ignition module so that is where I'm betting my money at the moment. As soon as I can test the spark I will let you guys know what I find. Thanks for the response guys! I am definately not to proud to ask for help from those who know.

Re: No spark??!!
You shouldn't need any u-joint fittings to remove the air box. Just push out the rubber plugs and you'll be able to put a straight extension right on the tricky nuts.
Fingers crossed; it seems more likely the ECU is kaput.

Re: No spark??!!
I didnt get to finish removing the airbox yesterday because I had a New Years bash to go to. I am suprisingly not hungover this morning so I am going to the shop to finish the task now. If the kill switch was bad it would not allow the engine to turn over, correct? Also, everything down the line from the key seems to be getting power (fuel pumps and such) but I'm sure that does'nt rule out the possibility of something amuck elsewhere. I will check the kill switch just for good measure. Once again thanks for the posts guys! I appreciate the help and input!

P.S. I only have one plug on the airbox that allows removing the bottom bolts. Still cant reach the other two. Am I missing something or am I just blind?
