Silky's Central Calif. BBQ Ride/Backyard Campout

      CENTRAL CALIFORNIA BBQ RIDE/BACKYARD CAMPOUT

      When:* Sat/Sun, Oct. 16 & 17, 2010

Where:* Paso Robles, Pacific Coast Hwy, over the hills and through the woods

Cost:* $10/person for BBQ (no charge for backyard camping)

      Details:

RSVP REQUIRED no later than Wed., 10/13:
Linda (Swart) Burch: kaw95 at aol.com (cell phone number available off-list)

(Note: Anyone who would like to arrive Friday night is welcome to stay at Linda’s place, but please make sure to let her know you‘ll be arriving Friday.)

Saturday: Meet between 8:30 - 9:00 a.m. at Wilson’s Restaurant in Paso Robles for breakfast.* Clutches out at 10:00 a.m. sharp. (We’re doing a later start time in order to give those coming from longer distances more time to get there that morning.)

We'll ride over some great roads for about 4 or 5 hours and then head to Linda's place near Paso Robles for an afternoon and evening of good food and bench racing.* Everyone who would like to stay overnight Saturday at Linda’s place is welcome.* There’s plenty of floor space, and unlimited room for tents in the back yard.* (Sorry - the guest room in the house and the motor home have already been reserved!)

(Anyone who can’t make the Saturday ride but would like to join us for the BBQ can head straight to Linda’s place - this includes any spouses/significant others that would like to join us.)

Sunday: Continental breakfast at Linda’s before everyone heads for home.

      Addresses:

      Wilson’s Restaurant
635 28th Street (on corner of 28th and Spring St.)
      Paso Robles, CA 93446-1261
      (805) 239-0682

      Linda’s house:
      6025 Burgandy Lane
      Paso Robles, CA 93446
      805-660-0084

(Note: Due to road construction, mapping programs on the internet will NOT give you the correct directions to Linda’s house, so if you plan to go straight to Linda’s, e-mail or call Linda in advance for directions. There will be about a half-mile of hardpacked dirt road - NO gravel - to get to Linda‘s.)

Alright, I'll bite. Pencil me and Mrs. 10851 in for a Saturday afternoon arrival and potentially a Sunday departure. Not sure if we'll seek local lodging or pitch a tent in the back.

Now where are the rest of you crazies!

OK, terrific - you're on the RSVP list. Let me know when your RSVP changes from pencil to red pen!

It is! I've always had a great turnout for this event, the smallest was 12 people, but it's usually more like 25 or 30. Plan to come if you can work it out, cuz I've got a great ride planned.

Hey, how are you doing? Haven't seen you two since Colona! Yes, 101 and 46 is where you're talking about. I live 6 miles east of Paso Robles on 46.

Are you coming through on the bike? Would love to get together for lunch, and you can meet my new husband. We're trying to get my Concours back together so he can start going on some of the upcoming rides.

Let me know what your schedule will be on your way through.

      Linda,

You already know that Cherie will be there, but I thought I'd put it up here so the zedheads will know that some from this site are attending.

I don't know her schedule yet - I'm sure that she's talking to you via FB instead, so you probably know more about her plans than I do!

I won't get to attend - I got to go play at 2West, so now it's her turn. This will be the first time she's attempted more than a local ride without me along! Woot woot!

For everybody else, go if you can. Linda has a very wide spectrum of friends with different kinds of bikes, but they all have one thing in common - they'd rather ride than talk about it. You'll have a good time!

Hey Tex, I'm disappointed you won't be able to make it, but really appreciate that Cherie will have a chance to get out on her bike to ride and reunite with good friends who have really missed riding with the two of you. So many great memories, and hopefully many more to come, together.

Yup, we'll have a good mix of bikes this year - C14s, C10s, ZZRs, FJRs - just to name a few. The ride is still 3 months away and we've already got 11 definite and 8 "penciled in" (some from the ZZR group), and my friend from the sport bike group in SoCal promises "he won't bring more than 10 people." WOOHOO - this is gonna be a GREAT weekend!

Just rode Hwy 1 and had 9 bikers down at our place this weekend, and it sure felt good to scratch the tires up again on the ZZR! Not a bad back yard, eh?

Linda, too bad we were through your area about a week before your ride. Thanks though for calling with road suggestions and an offer of a place to "crash" if needed. You live near some excellent roads and views! It's good to see that your '02 is still running strong. I ended up buying my '03 ZZR shortly after checking out yours at Northern Exposure Ride and the COG National in 2005! During those rides, I was riding a blue '01 Concours with my son, Zach, and my brother, Randy, was riding his red '03 Concours. Bill
