New Site Issues - READ BEFORE POSTING

In an effort to address any issues members experience with this new site, I have created this new post. Before posting your issue, please be aware of the following known issues and resolutions (or lack of resolution ). Please read this entire post -- and then read it again -- before creating a new thread in this forum.

If you have multiple issues, please create a separate thread for each issue. If a thread already is posted with your same or similar issue, please reply to that thread instead of creating a new one; if in doubt, create a new one, and I will merge posts if necessary to reduce clutter and make the process of addressing problems faster and more efficient.

1. Member unexpectedly being logged out - known issue, working on it - 08/05/10

Resolved/Fixed Issues

1. No signatures or avatar - not migrated. You will have to recreate. To do so, Go to Settings and Edit Signature. You have two options here under "Signature Picture": you can take Option 1 and enter a URL, like the URL some of you are pasting in between the IMG bbcodes into your signature line, or with Option 2, you can upload the photo from your computer. Once you pick and complete either option, click on the Upload button to the right/below of the option area. This will put the picture in the edit signature window. But you're not done yet. At the top right of the Signature Picture section, there is a button named "Insert Signature Picture". Click that, and the appropriate code will be added to your signature. You can then add text to the rest of the signature if you so desire. For Avatar: Edit Avatar 07/24/10

4. The titles of users based on the numbers of posts is not present - known issue, working on it - FIXED (sort of) 07/24/10
   
5. Your time zone is not set. - You will have to change it. At the top right, next to "Log Out", click Settings, then on the left menubar under My Settings and My Account, click General Settings. You can edit your time zone there. You can also click this link to edit. - 07/24/10
   
6. Most smilies not appearing - known issue, working on it FIXED only the smilies from the old site are now available - 07/24/10
   
7. Dungeon posts showing up in top 20 - known issue, working on it FIXED - 07/24/10
   
8. Forum sidebar too wide - FIXED set to 200px, about the same as old forum - 07/25/10
   
9. 50 Private Message Limit - FIXED set maximum private messages to 1500, if you have more, delete some? - 07/25/10
   
10. Classifieds not working - removed - 08/09/10
    
11. Pages/site loads slowly - FIXED - slow loading issues by adding modifications and optimization. Should notice a significant improvement in performance in the past few days, except for today (07/29/10) because I'm doing some server-intensive stuff. - 07/29/10
    
12. Subscribed threads notification not e-mailing you when new post is posted - By default the server does not automatically subscribe you, by e-mail, all threads you reply to; it only shows the subscriptions in your user control panel. To change this, edit your settings and change your "Default Thread Subscription Mode" to "Instantly, using email". - 07/29/10
    
13. Clicking on thread should automatically go to last unread post -- it doesn't, but there is a "View First Unread" option on the bar below the thread title at the top of the thread page. - 07/29/10
    
14. Unable to put HTML in posts - unfortunately, this is one of the requests I cannot grant. Enabling HTML in forum posts is a security risk; however, many websites are available that will convert HTML to bbcode: http://www.google.com/search?q=html+to+bbcode - 07/29/10
    
15. Forced logout after certain amount of time - FIXED Changed timeout from 15 minutes to 1 hour (1 day was too long and messing up the Who's Online? list). If you're taking longer than that to make a post, then type it up in notepad, Word, or some other text processor. - 07/29/10
    
16. Thumbnails not loading on some albums - FIXED I noticed this today when checking error logs for the web server. Changed a modification I recently implemented, which fixed the issue. - 07/29/10
    
17. Who's Online? not showing in sidebar - FIXED. This conflicted with the modification that showed the sidebar on every page. I had to disable that one. To view the sidebar now, you have to be on the main forum page. - 07/29/10
    
    
18. Time limit on editing post, thread/post title, adding a poll to a thread, and minimum character per post removed - FIXED - removed all of these limits. You're welcome. - 07/30/10
    
19. Breadcrumbs not showing at bottom - Added per request - 07/31/10
    
20. Sidebar not showing on all pages - FIXED - I think I was able to work all the bugs of it conflicting with the Who's Online? sidebar. Let me know if you see any blank pages, and make note of the full URL you see the page on. - 08/04/10
    
21. Buttons/navigation tabs at top of forum home do not render correctly in Internet Explorer (7) - FIXED - added, deleted, and re-arranged. Now rendering correctly in IE7. - 08/07/10
    
22. Old photo albums missing - known issue, working on it - 07/25/10 (updated 07/29/10, still working on it) - FIXED - The missing albums/pictures from the old site are now available. Here's the new URL to view them: http://zzrbikes.com/albums/?fpp=10 - but hold on a second. I have to explain some things first.
    
    The Good: Most photos/albums are available.
    The Bad: Some photos/albums are missing. Comments are not existent.
    The Ugly: Thumbnails do not exist for most albums and must be generated. This is a long a tedious process, so we need your help! Read: http://zzrbikes.com/albums/?fpp=10 - top of the page, for more info.
    
    A patchwork interface had to be thrown on top of the existing photos/albums. Layout is not the same for all albums as it was on the original software; for example, there is a folder named "zz_misc_albums", which I moved all the folders labeled albums**, albun**, albup** (the ** denotes numbers).
    
    Those of you who created an album with your name in it, as the old website instructed, should see that same name listed here: http://zzrbikes.com/albums/?fpp=10.

23. Nested Quotes not working - FIXED - enabled for the major forums. If it isn't present in a forum you use and want to use or if doesn't work where you think it should, let me know (create a new thread in Site Issues and Resolutions) - 08/09/10
    
24. Search is not working properly, or not returning search results that should be appearing - FIXED, appears to be working. (Let me know if it isn't. - 08/09/10
    
25. Having to go to another screen to preview a post - FIXED turned off Quick Reply. The site now behaves more like the old one when replying to someone. - 08/09/10
    
26. Forced user registration after X number of views - FIXED - turned off. A friendly reminder to register will be present after viewing X number of pages. - 08/09/10
    
27. Not all threads showing or threads older than X days not showing in forum thread list - FIXED - This is a feature of the new site to reduce server load: it only shows thread that are less than X days old. Most forums did have it set to one or two days, or a week; changed all to 30 days old as the forum default. If you'd like to see all threads on every forum automatically, Please edit your General Settings and change the Default Thread Age Cut Off: to Show all threads - 08/09/10
    
28. New users unable to use their accounts - FIXED - all accounts were set to go to moderation. I approved all existing accounts, and new accounts will require only e-mail confirmation to activate an account. Not sure why it was set to this. - 08/13/10
    
29. Unable to go to advanced on editing a post - FIXED - disabled this to make the forum more like the old one. Will now always load the advanced edit screen. - 08/13/10
30. site slow - FIXED - made some more optimizations; this time, I modified the apache httpd.conf file to increase:
    • StartServers to 13 (was 5)
    • MinSpareServers to 4 (was 1)
    • MaxSpareServers to 10 (was 1)
    • ServerLimit and MaxClients to 40 (was 25)
    
    Site seems faster now. I made these changes a few days ago. - 08/13/10

Not much I can do that; AT&T can be very asinine about blocking e-mail when it thinks it's spam, or if it thinks the server sending the mail is known to send spam. Contact AT&T to see if they can resolve this, or switch e-mails.

Mark, not sure what has changed but for the last few days I can not sign in using my blackberry. It worked fine on the new site for a while and now everything I try to log in it just kicks me back out.

I'm not sure why you're having issues, and since I don't have a Blackberry I can't test it, but I would recommend using the Tapatalk client for Blackberries: http://tapatalk.com/bb/ - go to that link and download the client, install it, run it, etc.

the buttons at the top of the screen are one on top of the other when i use the laptop thats running ie7. the laptop with ie8 they are ok.

i'm not a fan of the posts having the members name over the post instead of beside it.

how can I quote a quote to keep continuity alive within a thread?
My quote/replies will only go back one post.

1. Nested Quotes not working - known issue. This is when you try to quote a post that already has a quote; e.g., when Arthur tried to quote Pete who was already quoting Mike on the attendance list for the T.W.O. 2010 Rally, it didn't bring in Mike's blockquote. This is not a feature present in vBulletin by default, but I am working on a solution. - 07/26/10
