There seems to be quite a difference in design and price. There’s the standard 2-hole dog bone style which seems to be the cheapest at around $40. There’s the design with 1-hole on one end and 3-holes on the other. Then there’s the fully adjustable version with a turn-buckle type of design. Since I only want to drop it around 1”, I’m not sure I need anything too adjustable.

For the sake of quality and safety, can anyone offer some input or recommendations these lowering links? The Dallas Solution

I have a friend who is president of his homeowners association in the Dallas, Texas suburbs. They were having a terrible problem with litter near some of his association' s homes. The reason according to my friend is that six very large, luxurious new houses are being built right next to their community.


The trash was coming from the Mexican laborers working at the construction sites and included bags from McDonald's, Burger King and 7-11, plus coffee cups, napkins, cigarette butts, coke cans, empty bottles, etc. He went to see the site supervisor and even the general contractor, politely urging them to get their workers not to litter the neighborhood, to no avail. He called the city, county, and police and got no help there either.


So here's what his community did. They organized about twenty folks, named themselves The "Inner Neighborhood Services" group, and arranged to go out at lunch time and "police" the trash themselves. It is what they did while picking up the trash that is so hilarious.


They bought navy blue base ball caps and had the initials "INS" embroidered in gold on the caps .


It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand what they hoped people might mistakenly think the letters really stand for..


After the Inner Neighborhood Services group's first lunch time pickup detail, with all of them wearing their caps and some carrying cameras, 46 out of the total of 68 construction workers did not show up for work the next morning -- and haven't come back yet.


It has been ten days now.


The General Contractor, I'm told, is madder than hell, but can't say anything publicly because he could be busted for hiring illegal aliens. I haven't been on here much lately. My health has been slowly deteriorating and I just have been unable to ride. Without getting too much into it, I have a rare form of arthritis that is attacking my neck (can't wear a helmet), knees (can't bend my legs) my hands ( can't brake/cllutch) and am on Chemo. I haven't ridden at all since the CenCal Rally.

Al is a very experienced and safe rider, so I'm waiting to hear more details on what happened. However, he broke his hip joint, where the ball goes into the socket and has had hip replacement surgery. Now they are working on his knee and he may still have a broken leg. He's at an excellent hospital in Knoxville and all his vitals are fine.

By the way, it took 90 minutes for EMT's to arrive on the scene. I can imagine it was agonizing to lay there for 90 minutes while his riding buddies flagged down traffic so they would bypass the accident scene.

Even at 45mph there are rock and mud slides on the Skyway. My wife and I rode it in June of this year, and stopped first at the Tellico Outfitters. The manager/owner told us there of the road conditions and of a rock and mud slide, which was just where he told us. We also rode for a few miles in heavy fog (clouds) and had to slow down a lot and use the flashers.

My message is that even as great of riders as we all are, we can still be in tough situations and be injured.
